A pioneer and one of the most respected personalities of the Indian IT industry, he has, over the past 47+ years in India, had overall responsibility for the development of over 100 hardware and software products ranging from PCs, notebooks (including the world’s smallest and lightest multimedia notebook), handheld devices (including the Simputer as well as the SATHI military handheld), CNC, SCADA, Compilers, PC-BIOS, PCMCIA, DSP Software for modems, speech coders, VoIP, Video set-top boxes, and several embedded products, and, subsequently, the Mobilis and SofComp affordable information appliances. The latest creation from his stable is the EDUTAINER, an ultra-low-cost computer designed for education.

He was chosen Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, Davos, in 2001 and 2002.
