Dr. Zakir is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Histofi, Inc., head quarter is in Los Angeles, California with a wholly-owned subsidiary in Calgary – Histofi Canada, Inc. Histofi, through its proprietary SaaS platform links pathologists and oncologists globally to deliver a three-dimensional (diagnostic, treatment and cost decision support) cancer care ecosystem for providers, anywhere. Digital health is the foundation and AI-assisted digital pathology is the primer of Histofi solution.
Dr. Zakir was the founder of Telemedicine Reference Center Ltd. (TRCL) which was established in 1999. In 2001, he established the first international telemedicine system between Bangladesh and Nebraska Health System, USA. He architected the world’s first mobile health application that provides medical consultation by licensed physicians since 2006 and managed services for 12 million users and received the GSM Association’s Global Mobile Award in 2007.
Dr. Zakir led a research consortium of the International Center for Diarrheal Diseases and Research, TRCL, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and Future Health Systems (FHS). Dr. Zakir received an Award in 2002 from Nebraska Health System. He played a key role and secured grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and established a “Masters of Science degree program in Health Informatics” and served as a member of the faculty.
